The Academy
The Amagoro Junior Academy started as a daycare facility in 1998 serving 25 children. Since then it has expanded to a primary school for 325 children. The academy teaches students in grades 1 through 8.

The students who attend Amagoro Junior Academy come from Amagoro, which is located in western Kenya. The students are primarily poor and a number of them have been orphaned by the AIDS epidemic.  The students receive a traditional primary school education as well as the opportunity to hear the good news of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. The students are fed three meals each day at the school which for many students is a big highlight.  One of the biggest challenges faced by Amagoro Children’s Academy is when food runs low or runs out; the hungry children are unable to concentrate on schoolwork.

Amagoro Children’s Academy currently operates on a one-acre site owned by the academy. Many of the classrooms are temporary structures.  Currently, there are not enough classrooms for all of the classes so some classes meet outdoors under a mango tree. Bad weather causes obvious problems to classes meeting outside.

Funding
Funding for teacher’s salaries, daily operating costs, and food supplies primarily comes from private donors with some help from charities. Teachers earn a meager salary of about 100 dollars per month. Amagoro CFI currently provides a monthly contribution to Amagoro Junior Academy. It is donors like you who keep Amagoro Junior Academy operating. Even a small donation can have a large impact in Kenya.
